Purpose

With the rise of the amount of content that is consumed by people who are believers, as well people searching for truth via social outlets and online sources, it is important for our organization to realize the change in culture in order to reach as many possible.

Mission

The mission of the Director of External Discipleship is to engage people outside of our organization with biblical truth via any means, within reason, that they deem necessary, so that they can be healthy fruit-bearing believers that will invoke change in a post-churched nation.

Job Overview

​The Director of External Discipleship will be responsible for creating and coordinating all discipleship opportunities for persons outside of Bridging The Gap Urban Ministries. Their duties include developing content, curriculums, and strategies in conjunction our Marketing & Public Relations Department, that will reach people with biblical truth that can be consumed at their leisure. This may require them to be able to be on camera or help find talent that can be on camera as well as gathering the necessary resources to create said content.

Position Details

  • • Oversee the periodic making of curriculums, regular content (social media posts, video, etc), and bible studies around certain themes as assigned by President, as needs arise, and based on ideas others on staff might have.
  • • Create ways to quantify impact on people who engage our ministry and its resources
  • • Work in conjunction (as needed) with Director of Ministry Affairs to create and oversee all National Office initiatives that have an end goal of discipling individuals outside of BTGUM. This includes, but is not limited to conferences, workshops, summits, and gatherings.
  • • Organizing panels, summits, and conferences with scholars to facilitate our purpose of engaging the culture
  • • Finding, vetting, and implementing resources in order to disciple individuals outside BTGUM
  • • Stay current on available techniques and resources that can be made available to use in our external discipleship endeavors.
  • • Create opportunities for theological conversation around certain topics, questions, and culture across multiple platforms
  • • Developing programming that encourages and inspires biblical literacy

Qualifications (preferred but not all required)

  • • Bachelor’s degree. A degree in psychology, religion, or theology is preferred, but not required
  • • Advanced biblical knowledge
  • • Experience in church leadership
  • • Passion for God’s Word and for the growth of Christian discipleship
  • • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and conferencing software, like Zoom.
  • • Excellent organizational communication skills and effective professional business writing skills.
  • • Strong interpersonal skills – ability to communicate and work well with internal and external partners and develop professional relationships.
  • • Competency and flexibility to complete special projects with little supervision as assigned.
  • • Ability to work with a variety of teammates, facilitating collaboration and cooperation.
  • • Self-motivated, well organized, ability to work independently on projects.
