Say A Prayer, Send A Prayer

Imagine how different the world would be if instead of complaining about things, we said a prayer and let the people we prayed for know that we prayed for them.

Imagine how different the world would be if instead of opening our mouths, we opened our hearts to truly pray for our leaders.

Imagine…imagine. Why do we have to imagine? This week’s challenge is all about doing. It’s time for us to stop “imagining” how things could be different and be a part of the change.

When we started to really think about this challenge we realized that we do more complaining than we do praying, especially for the leaders in our lives. We get upset when they make a bad decision. We put them on a pedestal and love when they fall. Is it because it makes us feel better about ourselves? Is it because we have nothing better to do but to talk about the shortcomings of our leaders? Well, only we can change this mindset, and it honestly starts with you.

We should constantly be praying for the leaders in our lives, whether we personally know them or not. You should pray for that personal leader in your life. Whether that is a mentor or a boss at work, they are leading you somewhere and if you are supposed to follow them, you should pray for their wisdom, strength, and discernment.

We should pray for the public leader who is trying to do the best they can to help the community. They need your support and your grace as they continue to lead others down a path that can change the outlook of your whole community.

Let’s not forget about our political leaders! The mayor, the governor, the senator, the councilmen and women, even the president. There are so many people within this category that could use your prayers, and all we are asking you to do is pray for one. That they may represent the community in the best light, with open hearts and listening ears.

Lastly, we have our president. Yeah, we just said that. Regardless of how you feel about President Trump, he is still a human being who needs the love of Christ and your prayers. He is still our president, which makes him the leader of our country and ultimately you as well! You should want him to succeed, because ultimately if he fails, we all fail. If he makes a bad decision, he is not the only one who will pay the consequences.

We celebrate the power of prayer in our personal lives when God grants a request. Or when someone who has been praying for their victory over cancer, overcomes their sickness. But why can’t we celebrate the power of prayer in people’s lives that we may or may not respect people.
